The Safe Hands Policy

As an affiliated club to Surrey and the English Cricket Board the club has adopted the ‘Safe Hands’ Policy to ensure that your children play within an environment that is both safe and secure.

The Club has to appoint a Child Welfare Officer and Cameron Knight has taken responsibility for this role. We ask all parents to support him in this role.

Last year in accordance to the policy we started to ask all parents/ guardians to complete a form regarding Transport, Photography and Changing Rooms.

With regard to Transport

In brief the form explains that only coaches / managers and parents will be involved in transporting colts to and from away matches. Therefore it is necessary that parents support both the manager and the club in helping with transport.

In the event that transport is not available to matches then unfortunately the manager will have to cancel the game and let the other team have the points, or play games with only those boys who can be transport to and from the game.

In the event that there is not sufficient transport to return children to the club after an away game, then the standard procedure is to wait with the children or to take them to the nearest police station and leave them until a parent/ guardian collects them. This very nearly happened last year and we would appreciate not being placed in the same situation this year or in years to come.

With regard to photography.

Only parents, managers and coaches should take photographs or video at games. If you suspect that a stranger is taking photographs or film then please report it to the team manager and the colts organiser as soon as possible.
If photographs are taken and appear on the web-site it will only be done with the parent/ guardians permission and no individuals will be identified by name. By signing the form you agree to pictures being used on the web-site unless you state otherwise.

With regard to Changing Rooms

Most Colts come to the club already changed and ready to play cricket, however we have to seek your permission to allow colts to use changing rooms that may be being used by adults at the same time.

This really starts to apply when older colts are invited to play with adult teams. When this happens only those involved with the match will be using the changing rooms.

Managers - Coaches - Club Officials and Helpers.

Last year we started the process of having all those with responsibility over the colts being checked by the Police. This is a stipulation of the safe hands policy. This includes all Managers/ Coaches and Organisers as well as Caterers and other Club Officials including those Senior Captains who have Colts playing in their teams. Cameron may approach you and ask if you have had a check and if not what it will entail.

This year we will once again be asking all parents/
